First team football
Bishop Burton College v Scarborough 6th Form / Yorkshire Coast College
On a sunny day just after 2pm the game got underway. With Yorkshire Coast kicking off, Bishop Burton College pressured them, straight away, with 38 seconds gone the ball fell to Jamie Williamson who saw the goalkeeper off his line and from 30 yards lobbed the keeper with ease.
After the restart Bishop Burton College kept the pressure on Yorkshire Coast with Ben Hayhurst and Brad Delves working hard in the middle of the park. Luke Taylor and Jamie Williamson made good runs down the wings and Reece Jenner and James Webb working hard up front.
When Yorkshire Coast occasionally threatened, the defence of Robinson, Cooper, Robson and Hodson kept it tight at the back, with keeper Alex Gill sweeping up anything that came over the top.
Bishop Burton’s second goal came with a ball down the left to Webb, who squared to Jenner who side-footed it past the keeper.
The second half started with Bishop Burton kicking off. Twenty minutes into the half Yorkshire Coast started to return the pressure but keeper Alex gill managed to keep the score 2-0 with a couple of fine saves at his near post.
Bishop Burton made it 3-0 when Ben Hayhurst, marked by three defenders, managed a cheeky back heel which was finished by Jamie Williamson running in from the left wing.
With 10 minutes remaining, a mixture of fatigue, injuries and complacency allowed Yorkshire Coast to pull back two goals but Bishop Burton held on for the win.
